What To Do
Mbaramo Eco Tours can arrange tours and multi-day trips throughout the area which offer a wealth of natural and historical information, cultural symbolisms, as well as places of interest to enrich one's experience of the Usambara region. We also organize taxi, mountain bikes, motorcycles (boda boda), mini buses and overnight stays(home stay) and tent in the Mbaramo Usambara Mountains.
On request, we can arrange personalised itineraries with our experienced local guides. Guests can explore a wide range of exciting excursions directly from our base in Mbaramo. Bird-watch for the very rare Taita Falcon,Turacco nest nearby the cliffs and on the trees. Hike to the ancient caves . Walk through Shagayu forest with its stands of great trees, waterfalls, and incredible biodiversity. Hike down to Ndungu Lake, with its tranquil setting of rice fields teeming with monkeys and bird life. Safari to Mkomazi National Park, one of the newest wildlife parks in Tanzania.
The climate is temperate (though it can be cool in the evenings) and offers a beautiful environment for hiking.If intensive hiking is not for you, then just relax, meditate and chill out with the locals. Play some soccer, ride a bike. enjoy top-end views and romantic sunsets directly from the cliffs along Mbaramo. Visit Mbaramo village, local artisans, and the vibrant weekly market. Or get a cup at a local coffee at the bar. Other possible activities are mountain-biking and motorcycling, visiting village projects, paying a visit to a traditional healer, playing soccer with the local children near by, or just sitting around a fire pit and gazing at the blue starry sky above you.
